18 months

Samantha hit the 18 month mark on Tuesday, March 20th but her 18-month appointment wasn't until this past Friday, March 30th, and that was because a) we needed to space her shots out evenly from the last time she had them (and that ideal date would have been March 26th), and b) I would rather wait a few extra days to have the pediatrician I like and trust over the one I don't and despise. So, taa-daa!

Everything's looking good! She's weighing in at 25lbs 11oz, 31 1/2 inches and a 18 3/4" head circumference (some of these numbers might be off - I'm just going by memory at this point).

There really wasn't much else I felt I needed to address at this appointment. I asked about her teeth, and the doctor said she didn't need to see a dentist until she was 3, so we'll just stick with her fluoride treatments, brushing (now with a fluoride toothpaste) and trying to floss if she'll let us. She's really good about it too -- she loves brushing her teeth, and is getting pretty good at hitting all the right spots. The only thing we need to work on is the whole spitting part, but we'll get there... we have time!

Her eczema keeps flaring up, so I ran down the routine we were using for treatment -- we're switching it up to Hydrolatum for extra moisture, and trying to get in a bath every or every other night, patting her dry, then putting it right on. The change of the seasons and the weather really hasn't been helping, but I'm crossing my fingers the warm weather will be back sooner than later to give my poor girl some relief.

And she received two vaccinations this time around - DTaP and HepB (or HepA... I'll have to check). She did relatively well - a little bit of fussing but nothing that an Elmo bandaid couldn't fix.

And you know... it's funny. I just Googled information about 18-month vaccinations and people are STILL worried that the shots are going to give their children Autism. *insert eyeroll and headshake here*

And that's it. Next appointment isn't for another 6 months when Sam's turning 2. And that's scary.

April Fools, Indeed

As with every April 1st, I had a couple ideas floating through my head as to what I would do this time around, and as always my brain drifted towards reposting one of Samma's ultrasound pictures and allowing the populace to arrive at their own decisions. My husband thought this would not be the best of ideas, so I refrained... and apparently this was a good thing because I've seen quite a couple FB status today about people playing the pregnancy trick.

At the other end of the spectrum, however, I've also seen people threatening to defriend anyone who pretends to be pregnant.

Harsh? Or justified?

State of the Uterus

... at least for now.

No, I am not pregnant.

No, we do not have any plans to have Baby#2 any time soon.

No, I don't know when we will be ready for Baby#2.

We are quite happy with the way things are now, we have a lot going on with Samma and life, and we're really quite content with that.

Will this change? Sure. Someday.

But now? Absolutely no rush.

bluumBox: January

Oh bluum... you just keep pissing me off. I honestly don't even remember when this box came last month... that's how unamused I was by it, though by the initial posting of this blog attempt, ir says Feb. 5th, so we're gonna go with that. Clearly there just wasn't any ambition for me to run on over here and post about what I got.

January: sweethearts

Even the descriptions of the items on the website aren't what I received in my box...
  • Seventh Generation Baby Wipes
  • Plum Tots Organic Peach Snack*
  • Skin Free Skin Care Sleep Tight Spritz**
  • The Good Home Co. Hand Lotion
  • Mederma Stretch Marks Therapy
  • Collectible Kids Magnets***
*also received in December's box
** also received in November's box
*** also received in September's box, as well as October's box -- now I have two each of these flimsy magnets that can't even hold up a piece of paper. Hooray!

I will say I'll use the baby wipes, and even though I did get the Plum Tots snack before, Samma loves them and I'll be happy to give it to her. The hand lotion we will have to see about, I haven't even used the first spritz I received, and I swear, if I receive one more stretch mark cream sample, I'm going to scream!

Good riddance indeed, Bluum.
